It exists!
As some of you know, my new book The Case for American Power is coming out from Simon & Schuster in exactly two weeks, on November 11th. I’m really excited to share it with all of you. In some ways, this is a culmination of the work I’ve done over the past 15 years. Pre-orders make a big difference, so please consider ordering your copy. I’d be forever grateful. You can do so on Amazon here and other booksellers here.
I know many will disagree with the premise or wonder why I’m even writing about this now, considering everything that’s going on in the world. This isn’t about whitewashing America’s sins, of which there are many. It’s about believing America is still the last, best hope for a more moral, just world. The book is also my attempt to reckon with the tragedy of Gaza and whether it means we have to give up hope in America. My answer is no. American power isn’t intrinsically bad. It can be used for good, too. That part is up to us.
Here is some advance praise from Noah Feldman to hopefully whet your appetite:
“Hamid is a patriot — in the self-critical, hopeful tradition of Baldwin and King. In this intensely personal book, Hamid wills himself to optimism, realism, and reason, and calls for an America worthy of its ideals.” — Noah Feldman, Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Harvard University
And if you do get a chance to read it, send me a DM. Would love to hear your thoughts.
